I’m Tony Smith, the maker behind Sierra Front Woodwork.
I build straightforward furniture and household pieces designed for daily use and long-term durability. My work is influenced by timeless styles, honest construction, and the belief that good materials, careful proportions, and quality work speak for themselves.
I’m drawn to furniture that feels calm, useful, and unpretentious. Rather than hiding the material or my work under heavy stain or ornament, I prefer to let the character of the wood remain visible through simple forms and durable finishes.
Outside the shop, I’ve spent much of my life around cycling and the outdoors, where well-made equipment earns appreciation through years of use. That same mindset influences the way I approach furniture — practical, repairable, and built to age gracefully.
Every piece is built in small batches or on request with an emphasis on solid construction, careful wood selection, and timeless design.
Thanks for visiting.
About me
What I Build
I build small-batch furniture designed for practical everyday use. I focus on simple, time-tested forms that prioritize durability, utility, and long service life over trends or decorative excess.
My furniture is built in Reno, Nevada using solid wood construction and proven methods.

Design Philosophy
Sierra Front Woodwork favors restraint over novelty.
My furniture is designed to feel calm, functional, and durable rather than fashionable or attention-seeking. Proportions, materials, and construction methods are chosen for long-term practicality and repairability where possible.
Many of my designs are inspired by the Shaker, Mission, and Craftsman styles
The goal is not to create statement pieces, but dependable furniture people can comfortably live with for many years.

Why Small Batch
I operate as a small manufacturing workshop rather than a custom furniture studio.
My product catalog is intentionally limited so designs can be refined over time through repeated production. This approach improves consistency, efficiency, and long-term product quality while keeping pricing more approachable than one-off custom work.
Materials and Construction
I emphasize:
Solid wood construction
Durable joinery
Repairable designs where practical
Straightforward finishes
Long-term serviceability
My pieces are intentionally sized for practical local transportation and manageable small-scale production.
